The Charles Regional Medical Center Foundation’s Annual Autumn Wine Tasting and Silent Auction returns for its 26th year. The Historic Port Tobacco Courthouse will host the event on Saturday, September 9, and will include wine samplings, specialty beverages, an open bar, and cuisine stations from some of the area’s finest and most popular restaurants. The silent auction will take place virtually as it has in the years past.

This Wine Tasting and Silent Auction includes samplings of more than 30 quality wines and autumn ales from vineyards around the region and world, superior spirits, and a one-of-a-kind silent auction. Additionally, guests will be able to accompany their beverages with a wide array of delicious food from unique local and regional food establishments. Over 1,200 guests are expected to attend as well.

A GOOD TIME AND A GOOD CAUSE
While we all enjoy the wonderful items to bid on, the delicious food, and the tasty beverages, it’s important to remember the importance of this event. All proceeds from this year’s Wine Tasting and Silent Auction will support the Emergency Department Modernization project focused on expanding the UM CRMC Emergency Department to meet the growing needs of the Charles County Community.
Our Emergency Department is a 35-bed unit designed to meet the care needs of the emergent patient and provide:
- Triage initial assessment of patients to determine treatment urgency and placement within the ED based on the Emergency Severity Index (ESI), a five-tiered triage system.
- Patient evaluation for response to treatment and admission to UM CRMC or discharge with follow-up instructions as appropriate.
- Patient flow initiatives include patient care protocols, rapid medical evaluations, and a results waiting area.
The Emergency Department is also the county’s designated sexual assault center, is staffed by award-winning nurses and was recently recognized by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association with a national “Get With The Guidelines” honor roll award for demonstrating a commitment to following up-to-date, research-based guidelines for the treatment of stroke and diabetes.
